Concept
SURFACE — a media outlet dedicated to the creation and exploration of digital materials in 3D graphics. The project integrates visual experiments, educational resources, and practical guides on working with textures and shaders in Blender and Cinema 4D. Here, you can study the properties of various surfaces, find inspiration, and learn how to create realistic and experimental materials using nodes, textures, and rendering settings.
SURFACE — it’s not just an educational platform, but also a space for designers to connect and exchange experiences. Users can share their own materials and projects, discuss methods for creating various visual effects, ask questions, receive feedback, and collaboratively find solutions. The media features step-by-step tutorials, node system breakdowns, reference collections, and examples of artistic experiments. Participants can also suggest topics they are interested in for future analyses and share their own approaches to creating them.
The main goal of SURFACE

Create a unified information environment where users can find interesting 3D materials, study the principles of their creation, master necessary tools, and exchange their own experiences. Unlike traditional libraries of finished assets, SURFACE focuses not on downloading a final product, but on understanding the creation process. Every material is examined through its visual characteristics, technical structure, and practical application. For example, a user finds a reference for semi-transparent plastic with chromatic shifts. On the platform, they can study the surface’s visual properties, locate materials with similar characteristics, view its node structure, and take a step-by-step tutorial on creating such an effect in Blender or Cinema 4D. A crucial part of the project is the user community. The platform provides a space to discuss materials, share original developments, publish experimental results, and collaboratively find solutions. Users can suggest references for future research, ask questions about shader setup, and share their own methods for material creation. SURFACE is aimed at a broad audience: from students and beginner 3D designers who are just learning the principles of material creation, to professional 3D artists, motion designers, visualization specialists, and digital artists interested in experimental surface manipulation techniques.
