ABOUT ME

My name is Nastya or ananasshiba, and I’m a graphic and book designer. I also work as an instructional designer, specializing in the visual design of educational courses. In my practice, I work across a range of formats, from structurally complex books and catalogues to posters and educational products. Each requires a different approach, but at the core of my work is the search for a connection between content, function, and visual language.

The task was to design a catalogue dedicated to Soviet Olympic philately, bringing together postage stamps and other philatelic materials in a coherent visual narrative. The aim was not simply to organize the collection, but to present it as part of the history of the Olympic movement and the visual culture of the Soviet Union. My approach focuses on creating a coherent visual system that brings individual elements together while preserving their unique character. By balancing structure and visual expression, I transform a catalogue into a tactile experience that invites the reader to slow down, explore, and engage with the content.

The task was to design the layout of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, drawing on a specific theatrical production and the director’s interpretation of the play. The book was intended not simply to reproduce the text, but to translate the director’s vision into a visual language, transferring elements of the stage performance into the printed format.Color and typography became the primary design tools. The color of the paper changes according to the time of day depicted on stage, creating a visual connection between the theatrical space and the physical book. The text is organized along three axes, each representing a distinct historical era and its perspective on the events of the play. In this way, the structure of the book becomes a means of interpreting the work, reflecting the tension between different periods, worldviews, and attitudes towards a passing era.

A structurally complex book involves working with large amounts of diverse material and developing a carefully considered system for organizing its content. The focus extends beyond individual page layouts to the logic of the publication as a whole: the relationships between sections, the sequence of the narrative, visual hierarchy, and navigation. The Artemis II mission, which involved a crewed flyby of the Moon and an opportunity to observe its far side, served as the inspiration for this book. The task was to bring together the histories of four space missions — Apollo 8, Apollo 10, Apollo 16, and Artemis II — in a single multi-page publication.

POSTER DESIGN

Social ● Concert ● Festival

ᅟᅟᅟcase 1 — Social posters

The task was to develop a series of social posters addressing important public issues: demography and independence, one of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross.

The main challenge was to communicate complex social topics through graphic design, transforming them into clear and expressive visual messages. The aim was to balance visual simplicity with conceptual depth, ensuring that each poster captured attention, conveyed its central idea, and encouraged viewers to reflect on the issue.
